Yours will NOT be affected by the new prices going on your profile details.

You have a 2.5V6 and unless its a very, very late 2.5 in the facelift, then its not going to be affected.

Post March 2001 cars are affected.

Pre March 2001 cars with big engines have road tax capped at £210 until 2010.

 ;D ;D ;D

.. just like the top band for CO2 wasn't introduced retrospectively for cars built before 2006?

Don't take anything for granted with this bunch of @r53h0135 in government.

From what i've heard and seen on the news reading between the lines i'm hoping that the government are going to do a u turn on the retrospective tax.
fingers crossed :-/

the conservatives have growled at this tax hike so lets hope that when (and yes it will be) they come in they will reverse it, but as they are politicians i believe that they will keep it in place and just blame the labour gov ?

The motortrade themselves are driving a huge campaign currently relating to this as it will have a devastating effect on the secondhand market effectively wiping huge sums of money off the price of cars that are sat on the forecourt.

The governments current view is that it is a bitter pill to swallow but in a few years the majority of the car will be affected and so it be a forgotten issue, prices will become boyant again and normality will return, but as it stande it could bring the motor trade to a grinding halt, this in turn could affect new car registrations even more then the current credit crunch and so potentially bring on a bigger recession due to the slowdown of manufacturing, it all works hand in hand.

However..............i do believe it will go ahead  >:(, and i do not believe that the next government will change it  >:( they will blame the instigators and claim that the solution would be too costly.

Personally i believe that a flat rate charge for road useage is a better idea, currently i do 30K a year and would be happy to pay for the time that i am on the road, so long as it was both fair and good value and also the respective fuel duty was then  removed.......i know i am asking wayyyyyyyyyy too much

Just had a check with the DVLA and told me that my car will not be going up this would be great but my car is a later 2001 3.2 .

I gave them the reg and all the details and told me that it will be £210 for a year and £115 for 6 months and that after April 09 it would only go up by £5-10 .

I am hoping that they are right but from what i was thinking mine would be one of the ones to go up.
