I went to the Audi dealer yesterday to enquire as to the price of an A4 diesel, and to see what they would give me as a trade in on my mig.

I damned near bit the hand off of the dealer when he told me book price was £2875 and they would give me between £2300 and £2500!!!

Damn!  I was surprised to say the least.  I just couldn't afford the extra £11000 for the A4 I was looking at.

the 2.2 mig engine must be pretty durable,just seen a 2002 on ebay with 335,000 miles on the clock. ....not sure even an audi would match that.

It is a good engine TBH.  Thirsty but good.  Plenty of get up and go when you need it.

Funny you should say that, I am looking for quotes to do it now.

I love the amount of room I have in the Mig.  The A4 just didn't have the room in the drivers seat that the mig has.

i think it is the way to go.mine is a bit old really,even a diy install would cost more than the car is worth,but i am hoping (when funds allow)to buy a newer elite and lpg it .

I always think it is best to both buy and sell privately. Just being on the forecourt of a dealer, probably adds £3000 to the cost of the A4. It's worth remembering that most of these cars are just part exchanges from members of the general public anyway.

The A4 is only just larger than an Astra estate.....very small cars.

In fact an Astra Estate has a bigger boot than an Audi estate!

Mark,  they are indeed smaller in the interior, which is really my only grouch.  I had a mate with me at the time, and he sat behind me, with a reasonable amount of legroom.  Not as much as the mig admittedly, but to get that, I'd have to have an A8

Martin Martin Martin, not all Audi drivers are cocks  Some yes, but there are cocks who drive all manner of cars.......I nearly got taken out by one on the M25 last week.....he was 'driving' (I use the term loosely) just through the tolls into the tunnel.  Screaming along in his clit sipping on a coffee, nearly took out my drivers side front wing

and I reckon the boot of the Omega is as big as the normal 'boot' area  of my Astra G ie under the load cover with the back seats in use.

You might also find with the audi that your service bill will be a tad on the high side. If they are like the vw passat then to do a cam belt on the diesel you have to remove the front of the car. Might be worth looking in to

I had a cambelt changed on my old Bora 1.9TDI Sport.  Front end removal here too.....
