Keyfob battery holder
« on: 17 October 2015, 19:10:11 »

Hi guys, I got my omega with non working keyfob so I replaced all three press switches and "fixed" broken battery holder with a piece of wire - well you now it couldn't last long  :-X Has anyone here replaced battery holder ? Does anyone know part number?
Because more I search for some compatible part less I get.  I hope you can help me with this one. Thanks in advance, Stan

I never found a supplier, but repair is trivial if you can use a soldering iron - just extend the (now broken) battery holder legs with a bit of stiff wire (I use resistor offcuts), and solder in place.

I've probably done about 50 for OOFers, friends and family, and not had any issues with this method.

Its also advisable to add some dabs of cyanoacrylate to the battery housing to bond it to the PCB which removes some of the strain on the soldered connectors.

Need careful placement, as there are components under the battery holder. I did use a glue gun on the edge of a couple of pesky ones, but would rather not.

I replaced micro switches and repaired battery holder as TB has suggested . Everything works fine for now, only thing that bothers me is short distance keyfob works on - 3m away from the car...but it's much better than before :y

Silly idea...but it works....
Go a bit further away from your car, put the key blade against your head...and unlock/lock it :y

If you stick the key in your ear and turn it does the car start?

It really does work (assuming its the right frequency (and not IR ;D)) as you bonce acts as a resonator.

IME, range probably doubles from about 2m from car to about 4m when I use my chin
