Win10 again, No WiFi , No Networks found.
« on: 12 January 2016, 08:41:53 »

Just when things were becoming stable, Update, now the WiFi is not working since Friday on the main machine.

Tried everything, reboots, WiFi on/ off, checked drivers, can't do anymore updates obviously, although it did say unable to update all blah, blah, nothing new there.

Anyone, run out of ideas, I'm not rebuilding (again), if I do its going back on 7, WiFi is on just showing no networks.

Just to add, any restore points, I'm sure there was at least one, has been wiped via the latest update that's caused the issue.  >:(

Just done a Restore from a Drive Image from about a week ago, that was fun as the last image I had was in the cloud, so used one of the Mobiles to download the image (totally forgot SD Cards don't support more than 5gb on the mobile  ::))

Anyway restored back to least week, and still doesn't work, WiFi On, no networks found.  >:( >:(

Starting wonder wither the latest 10 update has screwed my Bios over.  :-\, machine is working fine apart from the lack of WiFi connection.

Have you ever had a VPN, cisco or otherwise, installed prior to or after the upgrade to Win10?

Possible, not sure if Ive got one here though, might have a old 3G USB dongle that could have WiFi with it, will go on the hunt.  ;)

No, not on this machine its home bound.

Just noticed my email client (Thunderbird) has gone walk about as well, as in, its no were to be found on the system, fairly sure its not related to the WiFi issue,  :( probably related to the 10 update though. ::)

Fairly sure someone else on OOF had this WiFi issue, could have been TB.  :-\

I would certainly try this as a first step in debugging as you can separate an existing/updating driver issue with something more nefarious.

This is exactly the problem I described last week with the wife's laptop. With it being a works one, and her not having admin privileges, she had to get the IT fella to fix it.
He said something like 'with every update it seems to f**k around with the wifi settings". Far too technical a statement for me to understand.  ::)

Well, Ive just done a windows trouble shooter (you never know, you can live in hope), and apart from the usual, switch it on, plug in your Ethernet cable, reset your router, all that bollards, it does tell me there is a WiFi problem and contact my Administrator,  ::)

Something is hanging it, I reckon, but I dont want to start re installing stuff for something that probably isn't broken.

Not a switch to disable the wifi (or key combo) - most laptops have them.  This would explain the (presumably) reportedly working driver, but no wifi networks.

Other thing worth checking if older wifi adapter, disable power saving on wifi - this was the cure for mine, but mine could see networks, just not connect.

I had this last week with a budget end Toshiba Satellite with an Atheros WiFi Adaptor.

The driver from Atheros wouldn't work, but the Toshiba 'Atheros' driver sorted the problem.

Try downloading the driver from the System Manufacturers website.  :y
