Win 10 sounds rubbish ...im on 7 at the mo, but not looking forward to moving on

Provided you don't have a load of shit installed on Win7, you will be able to upgrade (for FREE) with no trouble at all.

It's a FREE upgrade to a blisteringly quick, and very stable OS (Yes, I'm talking about Windows).  Did I mention it's FREE?

I had the same issues as TB with my laptop seeing networks but couldn`t connect after going to sleep and needing restarting although I`ve had no issues what so ever with the HP Elitebook.

Tried a USB WiFi/Ethernet adapter?
Possible, not sure if Ive got one here though, might have a old 3G USB dongle that could have WiFi with it, will go on the hunt.  ;)

I would certainly try this as a first step in debugging as you can separate an existing/updating driver issue with something more nefarious.
Ok, I managed to get an old O2 Huewui dongle, or what ever there called, working on HSDPA, but couldn't get the WiFi side to work (that's probably down to the crappy software that comes with it, as the 3g side kicked in ok). Which means a least I can download and update my drivers directly.

Not a switch to disable the wifi (or key combo) - most laptops have them.  This would explain the (presumably) reportedly working driver, but no wifi networks.

Other thing worth checking if older wifi adapter, disable power saving on wifi - this was the cure for mine, but mine could see networks, just not connect.
Yea, there is, its a Samsung Lapp, WiFi can be switched on and off using Fn + key, although its not working, luckily its stuck on On.

In fact most of the Fn keys do something with the lappy which is controlled by Samsung own back ground apps, I think that's possibly where the problem could be, think win10 is trying to take control and its conflicting.

Currently downloading all the latest Software Drivers and Apps, which is a bit painful as a restart is required foe each one, then windows updates kicks in at the same time. ::)

Re done all the drivers and Samsung Apps, and another win10 update, all is as it should be, still no joy.

Plan F is to do another rebuild on 10, but this time omitting all the Samsung Stuff, and hope 10 copes with it, although guessing that means losing all my Fn + keys shortcuts, some of which I use, mainly Vol, Screen brightness, Eco / Power mode on battary and Ex Display switcher. :-\

Short of that I'm out of ideas.

Look...I don't really know what I'm talking about here but, as I said, this happened to wifey's work laptop. She said IT man fixed it really quickly by changing something to 'allow' from ' limited' in the settings.
Exactly the same problem, could see our sky router but wouldn't connect.

Kinda narrows it down a bit then.

Well...gotta be in network settings.....somewhere  ;D

This one seems closest to wifey's problem but is win 8.

Fn Keys are usually switchable from Primary to Secondary (and visa-versa) in the Laptop BIOS settings.

If it's modern enough, it'll have UEFI capabilities which may or may not be switched on.  If you have that facility in the BIOS settings, switch it ON.  Any later version of Windows will then see the Fn Keys and extra 'hardware' features of your Laptop.

You can also access UEFI options from the Windows 10 Boot Options Menu.

Press and HOLD the SHIFT KEY when you restart (Click Restart from the Start Menu),

When the Menu loads, Click 'Troubleshooting' and then Advanced Options.

If there are UEFI capabilities, there will be a UEFI menu there.

Cheers I'll try that in a bit, just in the process of putting its old win7 image on a spare HD, just want to prove a point and make sure my WiFi hasn't gone tats up coincidently.
