Have we all got our winter tyres on?
« on: 17 January 2016, 10:02:46 »

Slippy on our estate this morning. If I'd tried really hard, I could have lost traction/steering. Today must be the day the Eurocrats have been waiting for, a few scrapes and winter tyres will become compulsory.

No need for winter tyres in this country, and there never has been.

Driver care and attention is all that is required. :)

I shall buy a set of winter tyres the day I buy a car/lorry/bus/tractor that runs on derv.

I had some fun and games leaving someone's house around midnight, silly cobbled driveway that I had to do a 3 point turn on. Much slippage ;D.  But then I had nearly gone arse over tit getting in the car ;D

Then getting on my drive, which is on a slight slope, plenty of slippage.

But no dramas, and if I wasn't arsing around, there would have been no lack of traction ::).  Hence, no winter tyres here. Unless we have an ice age.

Just purchased and fitted a set of s/h rims but near new winter tyres for wifey's fiesta as she drives some very grim ungritted country roads to work, she's had a few nervy moments the last couple of years so thought I'd see how she goes with these buggers. I admit she's my world so she's worth looking after ( on a budget obviously ;D )
