Things I have learned about Captur
« on: 21 January 2016, 13:04:56 »

1) Stop/start is a total gimmick. It will only work if the battery is more than 80% charged, which it never is, esp. in winter. Plus, it hardly increases mpg when it does work. Obviously a marketing/lab fuel saving device which will be disabled at the start of each journey.
2) Bluetooth takes about 5 minutes to find wifey's phone after starting off. This is normal, apparently, but annoys my verbose partner no end.
3) When wifey set off this morning, I noticed she had one fog light on. Renault electrics at their best, I thought. But no.....when the headlights are on, turning the steering wheel illuminates the fog light on the side you are turning into, so as to aid you round the corner. Piffle  ;D
4) The volume control only works on whichever device you are using at that time. Radio, phone or sat nav. Apparently, the default volume setting is low, so you can turn up your radio and phone without too much fuss. But the sat nav volume will only adjust when the little person inside is speaking.......so a certain amount of guesswork required there. ;D

I will give you ammunition keep you up to date with any further stupid, unnecessary gizmos options as I come across them.

It's a lovely colour and has '65' in the middle of the number plate. She loves it.  :)

I had someone commenting 'was this made in '01 or 02?' because they saw the '51' in the middle of my reg... I had to explain, 'no, we used to use letters on reg numbers - for rather a long time, too!'

The look when I said '1996' was priceless - it was as if they didn't realise cars had been invented in 1996  :D

To be fair I think the horse & cart was fairly standard in Lincolnshire right up until about 2004 ;)

The fog light thingy is now common on lots of cars.Citroens and Seats to name just two. This is another "new" idea, quite forgetting that the original DS pre-empted this in the '60's/'70's.with its swivelling headlamps!

Remind us who owns 43.4% of the manufacturer of your car, again? ;)

I've often wondered where this stands under the law ...  AFAIK it is illegal to use fog lights if the visibility is greater than 100 metres (highway code rules 226 / 236 and RVLR 1989 Section part III regulation 27 table 1 section 2 (b)) ... so how do they get away with wiring them in this way ??

So not only is it bloody stupid, it is illegal as well .. IMHO
