The earlier RTs had great grip, the last set I've just torn my way through was not so good. So background research shows there are various factories around the world, and that causes a variance on performance, and its luck of the draw.

Only ever tried Potenzas (on a members car) that were over half worn. I found them quite slippery.

Seeing as I need some new tyres, I'm unsure what to get this time.

I found the last set off sport Macs quite grippy so I've gone for another set, not had potenzas so I can't compare them.
I think the last set of sport maxx were a bit dearer than these.

I put the GY Eagle F1's on the front of TBE yesterday (to get me out of a hole), and promptly remembered why I took them off.  Although chrisgixer always said (bearing in mind I've had 3 out of 6 of those GY F1's fail) that I'd overdriven them and probably overheated them, causing irrepairable damage.

I've had Goodyear F1's on one Omega, and although they are a good tyre, in time they began to crack in the tread grooves around the circumference. Equally, in the past I have seen Dunlops do the same, but as they are now both part of the same company, I'm not surprised.
I have just bought a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 3 - at £95 a corner including fitting, a far better tyre imo, and a good price, I thought.

The tread crackling I can live with, and happens on the Dunlops are will.

Of the 6 F1s I've had, one gained an enormous blister (about size of 10p) hole. I I worn out. 2 went back to GY who admitted they had become faulty (brown heat marks all over them), and 6 are back on the car (7mm left) to get me out of a bit of a hole with not enough tyres ;D
