Dash cameras
« on: 19 July 2008, 13:44:26 »

Given that anyone who drives at the speed limit seems to be regularly tailgaited (despite driving very defensively) and so many muppets on the motorway pull out without looking, I've decided to invest in a couple of descreet dash cams. One pointing forwards, one at the rear.

2gb SD cards = about 4 hours of driving.

Would make things so much easier to prove, should one of the muppets give you a nudge ;D

Not bad at £38 a peice :y

I don't think it would be admissible? Thats even assuming that firstly the police, and secondly the CPS, give a monkeys.

I think it would only be useful in the event there was a serious accident, I'm sure it would at least be looked at under those circumstances.

I wouldn't want it for any other reason tbh

Just hope the camera doesn't get destroyed in the smashup  ;D

I was wondering about something similar. How about fitting it to say the passenger's headrest?. That way you would get a pic including your speed, and poss a view of the mirrors, so you would get a better pic of what what was actually happening, eg if someone sideswiped  you while passing. The other thing is to get one on a headset so the camera actualy sees what you see. Mind you, do you think having one of these would make you modify your driving habits?.

Maybe not but in the event of a crash I think your insurance company would be interested in the footage.

I would. I want to mount one on the bottom of the nosecone of the westfield and give it a serious caning drive around carefully observing the speed limits for a while and see what the footage looks like form 4" off the tarmac. ;D

BTW PM Sent, James. Little LPG query - like how the break do you work an LPG pump?  :-[
