Motherboard Info

I cant find the setup disk for my motherboard and was wondering if anyone can recomend a download to interogate it.

Basically I only need the model and make so I can go to the right site to download the drivers.

As I boot from a monitor via the game post I dont have the option to enter the bios (or should I be able to)

It's too akward to full the PC apart to check the board, I just want to try all the usual bundled software before I format and reinstall windows.  :y

Usually 'F2' or 'Del' to enter the BIOS.  As soon as you hit the power button, tap on these two keys quickly until the BIOS opens up.  :y

That works no problem booting on HDMI, but no success on Gameport.  :-\

I'm going to assume you mean VGA port (15-pin connection)?  If so, it won't make any difference, you may just have to tap the keys before the display comes to life.

Shouldn't make a difference. its a port that look like a HDMI with one side flat.

download CPUZ it will tell you everything about your installed hardware

I use Belarc advisor, it's a free download and will give you the info you need

CPU Z was reasonable, it told me a lot about the system, but would like to know more info about the RAM voltage as I am planning to upgrade to faster ram.

As it happened I found a folder with the drivers in it, so it seems I have a Gigabyte 990FXA-UD5 after all the fuss.  :-\

Interesting program and quite informative, didnt realise I had 17TB of hard drive storage available till just now.  ::)

Didn't they remove licence keys from later ones? Or is that just for specific editions of Windows?

You should be able to get model from BIOS - press keys as stated above, though HDMI/DisplayPort take a while to change resolutions, more so with newer monitors.

From that, go to manufacturer site, look for overclock tools, which should give you the specifics for that manufacturer.

Just checked on mine (Belarc free Ver 8.5b) still showing the actual licence key/s

Used Belarc for years and always found it very handy

Indeed, Belarc is a great tool.

I tend not to use it so much now, as its usually quicker to do things the manual way, looking up the IDs for drivers etc.

For licencing, I don't find it useful, as if a PC turns up here for rebuilding, if it'll boot, I grab the licencing stuff (keys, and on pre Win8 branded PCs, certs) manually. If it won't boot, well, no inventory tool will help much ;D
