Auxiliary belt snapped and best shocks to buy

Just seen an omega for sale said auxiliary belt snapped may be a pulley seized it's worth a gamble, also looking to replace my shocks any recommendations

I've just bought a pair of shocks' from Poland £28.00 delivered, (rears) fitting kit not much good.

I have seen a set Bilstein on eBay all for front and back for £177 has anyone tried them?

If it's only aux belt, you just need new pulley and belt, £50 the pair. Only snag is you can't drive the car home.

Yes but which pulley that's the hard part


probably the plastic tensioner pulley, as that's the usual failure on serpentine belt systems. A new one costs a tenner.


If it isn't that then it will be a seized AC compressor(or knackered clutch) or the water pump which will also be leaking like a politician.

It's a gamble I am taking as the belt snapped it took out a few sensors and coolant pipes so I am kinda in 2 minds  :-\

With the belt off, it should be obvious which pulley caused it to snap... strong money is the tensioner pulley... but spin them all and see if any are rough/seized and go from there... wiring is easily repaired and coolant hoses easily replaced, so shouldn't take too much effort to keep it going ;)

If it took out pipes and wiring then it may have got into the cambelt as well and caused that to jump some teeth  :-\

What's it going for? could be a worth while buy either as a daily or as a donor car.


Bought a Vectra years ago with a snapped timing belt (Water pump froze solid due to ne anti-freeze) new belt, three second hand cam followers and could have sold it half a dozen times.

The auxiliary belt on my old cdx snapped while driving. Gave me a shock lost PAS and on a roundabout
