Plus 1 for paid.  I had Brembo on my merc and the road salt ruined them,  I had mintex on the 2.5cdx

Leave eicher well alone. The front pads friction material cracked down the middle on my v70 complete junk if I had kept the receipt ECP would have had an ear full

Pagid are rubbish, used to be ok but over the last year or two they have fallen off a cliff.

Not sure if its ECP selling duff stuff again, but Pagid pads are now awful.  As said, that may be either ECP up to their old tricks, or Pagid make (or rebadge) some real shite for ECP to hit a price point.  But I'd avoid them.

Ignoring the Tradeclub pad, cheap pads are universally crap. Be that the truly awful Mintex or non brand ones.

Traditionally, pad makers like Mintex used to sell a decent pad (at a price) and a low cost pad for cheap suppliers.  Mostly, these makers have dropped the high price ones for business reasons.

Maybe Brembo still have the dual prong approach, but fair to say if sub £20, they are going to be shite.


As said, TC seems a reliable exception, though they are not perfect.  If left for a few days unused, they need a little heat in them before they properly bite.  But if looking for a £20 pad set, nothing I've come across on the Omega comes even remotely close.  And I put my money where my mouth is - the MV6 runs TC pads (TBE runs GM OE pads)

Irrelevant sadly, the issue I have had is I have fitted 6 sets in the last 18 months to a number of different vehicles based on previous good experience, on all but one of the vehicles the discs are shot and the pads failing (two have cracked).

A year ago I bought Pagid discs and pads (from ECP) for a newly acquired Ford Galaxy. All the existing discs looked as rough as a badgers arse but when I pulled the wheels off and measured disc and pad thickness they were barely worn so I left them.
I fitted the Pagid discs & pads last month - so far they have been excellent.
How long did the sets you fitted last? and  what vehicles were they fitted to?

Fitted to:

1 off Zafira B (mine) - 14 months on pads cracked and discs have high spots (I never sit with foot on brake) and wear grooves
1 off Corsa C - Cracked pads, circa 5 months
2 off Omegas - 1 ok and the other showing grooved discs and pad failure
1 off BMW 5 series - As per Omega,
1 off Focus - As per Omega

I have experienced poor braking performance and premature overheating, both on the ones I've had on my own car (from ECP), and those fitted to other peoples cars (again, ECP).

Any car can easily do that quite quickly. My definition is when the pad's effectiveness reduces considerably.
