ah usual stuff then, that's good also i'm assuming elites were not lsd just a normal diff? if so what oil does it take as vx dealer told me they have no idea..

EP90 from memory, but might be summat in the FAQ section, or in Haynes

LSD is a bit of a Holy Grail item... great to have, but you're really gonna struggle to find a decent one...

Thanks alot for that, so basically all the tweaking can be done via tech 2 and should not need a full ecu re map? ( I know you basically just said that but I'm just making sure I'm understand it right lol)

The ECU's from a 3.2 Manual (Ex Police) do have a different Internal Map compared to the Standard 3.2 Auto ECU, wither it was a Police thing or just changes to a generic Map to suit the Manual Gearbox for the 3.2 weve yet to discover, but as Al says changing or modifying the Looms will sort out the gearbox side.

Probably easier to get hold of a 3.2 Estate and put a Manual box in it, imho. Probably need to sort out diff ratio as well though.

Were the 2.6 Manuals and 3.2 Manuals same diff ratio?

According to brochure, both 2.6 Manual and 3.2 Auto use a 3.90:1 diff  so will be fine as an engine/drivetrain combo. Won't quite have the top end of a plod 3.2 manual, but will be a smidgen quicker off the mark... be looking at about 2900rpm at 75mph

Officially diff ratios are:

2.6 Manual 3.90:1
2.6 Auto 4.22:1

3.2 Manual 3.70:1
3.2 Auto 3.90:1

So 2.6 / 3.2 Gearbox must have different final ratios then? Ive no idea as only play with 3.0 / 3.2's

I would budget for one, will probably need to come from a 3.0 Manual (3.7), driving a 3.2 Manual with an Autobox diff (3.9) will drive you mad on Motorways, been there done that.

All Omega (UK) Diffs were standard, LSD Diffs were only fitted to Police.

well i should be fine then as i am currently in a 2.6 manual and want to put 3.2 into my manual so the diff and box is still from same car and in the same car only engine would be from 3.2 auto

Not quite, as the gearbox ratios are different, which will give a lower road speed for any given rpm.

Good for traffic lights, not so great for long journeys...

For reference, my 3.2 manual was about 200 rpm lower at 75

I always thought all the R25 / R28 manual 5 speed boxes had the same ratios ?
It was just the diff ratios that was different across the engine ranges

R25 ratios: 3.81 2.11 1.34 1.00 0.76.

So what would I get in 5th @1000 revs  with the above setup
I remember my old 3ltr would sit quite happily at 30 mph in 5th with a R25 / 3.7 diff
