That's the retail price! Do NOT pay it. If you have Trade Club access, you'll get 20l for about a tenner more.

You don't have to buy a standard consumable from Vauxhall!

You could buy 5l of 10w40 semi synthetic from any motor factors for under £15. Less if you haggle.

That's if your dealer does Trade Club or if they even have a Parts Department at all as I discovered recently!  >:(

I phoned Eden Honiton and ordered a part, yes it'll be here in a couple of days and we'll let you know.  So a couple of days later they phone me and pop over to pick up my part to find the dealership has had a makeover.  I go to the service desk and get a blank look when I explain who I am and what I want.  ::)

Then the penny obviously drops and the guy says that they don't do parts any more, and my part will be at Eden Exeter.  I tell him that I phoned Honiton, but he tells me that all parts queries are diverted to Exeter!

No one told me that!  >:(  Ah sorry.... I'll get them to post it to you.  ::)

So I won't be using Eden again which is a shame as they always used to give me a good price on oil.  :(

Indeed, Vauxhall/dealers seem to be going out of their way to ensure that its no longer viable to buy Vauxhall cars.

Evans halshaw York will not do trade card. not only that I was quoted £78 +vat for door c/l motor & outer York £30 cheaper, still not a t/c price was willing to discount that if I went to them.

I recently bought oil from my local Vx dealers and they beat the price for the same oil from my local Asda's .... !!!

I got 10 litre of 10W40 for £20 + VAT but they wouldn't discount the oil filter..... LOL

I've just bought the parts to service my sister's Hyundai, and 5l of 10w40 was £11. Last time I asked, a 20l drum was under £25, but I don't want it in my way for the next year.

I did the maths on TC service parts some time ago, and they don't add up for me.

Clearly a huge variation in dealers then. In my nearest city the main local franchise has 2 branches, one takes TC, one does not. The one that does is difficult, argumentative and staffed by numpties. The one that doesn't will give me TC prices after I said to the parts chaps that I know they don't hold the TC account for the district, but I'd rather deal with them. The chap said he'd always do a best price so long as they made a penny or more profit because they'd rather have the repeat business and nick it off the other branch.

So, if TC is the best price then it works for me and works for them.

Hi Anthony. I usually use DirectVauxhall behind Temple Meads station, Bristol. Their oil is cheap, 20 litres about £22 plus vat, but they are slow producing it, grumbling it usually goes out in the vans, is stored in an outside shed along with other liquids, all mixed up. 20 litres of their antifreeze is £19, worth buying too. Advice last time was ring before calling.

Yes Terry.

I use Drive North in Patchway as I got fed up with Avon Street being so miserable and unhelpful. It's also much easier to get to. All the parts guys bar one (there's always one) are spot on. If it helps, when I've had to order from Avon St I get them to put the items on the van and deliver to North for me to collect.

Trade Club has become less friendly in the last few years. Avon Street is my handiest, but I have also used one at Trowbridge, OK, and Skurrys at Swindon, massive. Service at all is slow, staff retreat behind closed doors and presumably search systems for the parts required, eventually reappearing with goods ordered. Skurrys is like Argos, I place my order, take a seat, and await my name to be called to receive my goods. I used to buy Trade Club at Bellinger Grove, that was much better. I got to know all the stores staff by name, and if I had technical enqiries (this before my Forum days) a lad from the workshop would be fetched to advise me.
