smelly
« on: 10 July 2016, 18:51:05 »

Over the the last couple of weeks while driving the car noticed the interior smells like sweaty feet. I thought it was my work trainers,so today when i was going out new trainers on and within 20 minutes car stinks again. I pulled over and the carpets are  bone dry. Would this be a problem with the aircon or something else.

Try it with A/C off.

Those A/C cleaner cans *may* cure it temporarily, if it is the A/C

Pull the Pollen Filter out and have a sniff, they can get a bit smelly after they get damp for any reason.

Also I wouldn't recommend you squirt those Foam Bombs into the air vents, did one years back and it messed all over the back of the HU, there's a cold feed pipe aiming at the back of it.

I used one of those air-con bombs in the Discovery, the air-con smelled really stale and horrible as it had been offroad for over 5 years and was damp. It really stank up to high heaven, so I got one of them can things, followed the instructions and set it off. Must admit it did the trick and soaked up all those bad smells, left the car smelling fresh & clean.

The only trouble with it was the after affects in that if you drove the vehicle and used the air-con you got the whiff of whatever is used in the can. I didn't realise at first, but for about 2 weeks after my eyes were sore if I used the blowers and I put it down to the Air-con bomb.

Best use the air in bombs,
Put air-con on flat out re-circ on, put bomb on tunnel between all the seats, place some old towels on seats, pull the pin shut door wait 20mins, (engine/aircon running), when finished, change pollen filter, job done ;)
