error code help

hi all,

last week or so on  car startup engine management light come on and was in limp mode, switch of restart and all is fine.

have been to garage and it has come up with code

p1700 transmission control system.

has any one any idea what this is referring to and what needs changing  :-[

Possibly cam sensor on it's way out, the 2.2 petrol Achilles heel that throws up transmission codes for fun

I had a new genuine Vauxhall cam sensor just a month ago :-\

Need the gearbox (and ABS) codes read as well.  Could be a heap of things, without the data we are simply guessing.

just had a new gm cam sensor fitted what are the odds that if may be a duff 1

reason I ask the day I got if back from the garage the management light came on so I took it back next day to ask him to check the codes but the problem was he hadn't cleared them from before but the only fault code were for the cam sensor  :'(
