Is nothing easy on this omega lol

So did cam cover gaskets. Great. No leaks. Car running completely fine.
Other than through the vents there's a slight smell of petrol.

Now I double checked the lines going in to the inlets and they're tight. It's not dripping or anything silly like that. However the smell is down as u put your snout between the air box and engine. Now I know I did spill some fuel while getting the lines out of the way for the cc job.  But I thought it would've evaporated.

Unless it's just the smell of some residue?

Ps it's not smoking or anything like that. Just the faint smell through the vents

Have you disturbed the purge valve or pipe to the carbon canister in osf wing?

On startup there's the distinct smell of petrol through the interior vents, it goes away after a couple of mins on mine... one of those 'well, she runs fine, so I'll get round to it one day' jobs... I can't imagine this is normal for Omegas, however - as the fact this has appeared makes me wonder.... before my old girl was resurrected, one of the up the drive jobs was the camcover gaskets - we could have both disturbed exactly the same thing in doing the job?

On the other hand - if we have the same issue - you can sleep sound knowing mine's done about 12k since, with no apparent maladies/fires/explosions  Very interested if this is resolved, though.

It shouldnt be fuel, I have a smell from the flame trap were the old oil leaked from the rock hard rubber elbow,
its the noxious smell of hot oil which can smell of fuel but only a whiff now and again when the engine is really hot

its probably old sludge you disturbed when cleaning

Thanks for input guys. Driven it some more today and touch wood it seems to have cleared.

Taxi, to check the purge canister where does it live? Ie do I have to remove arch liner?

I know it's perhaps dis-similar, but when me and the old girl went for her 1st MoT in blah blah years, rather unfortunately when we arrived at the testing centre, there was a lovely billow of oil smoke coming from the engine bay.... this was, of course just oil spilled from doing the cam covers, which was slowly burning off, and cleared after another few miles. Hope you're sorted, now.

Bugger, thought I might have found why mine stinks of BP's finest every time I turn her over, haha!

Yeah after the job I got burning oil smoke. Watched that clear over 5 mins at tick over. No other smoke or anything. I'll keep u updated mate.

I may get my bear paws on this canister just for the shits and giggles 👍

Yeah, behind arch liner... Disturbance likely to be where the hoses connect to the purge valve on back of 135 head Also could be a sign of cracking in the rubber hose from valve to breather bridge

Thanks taxi.  I definitely removed all hoses to breather bridge to clean. Is it the one on the far right of the breather bridge? 

Is it possible to fracture the lines going I  to the inlets?  I did bend them upwards and tuck them behind a coolant hose for at least 24 hours while I left it at the shop

What about the Schrader valve on the injector rail? Might be leaking after you disturbed it?

Thanks taxi.  I definitely removed all hoses to breather bridge to clean. Is it the one on the far right of the breather bridge?

It's one of the two centre pipes on the Breather bridge... The larger one on later cars but believe earlier ones have a slightly narrower hose for it...ie both the same size

Thanks guys I'll inspect tomorrow. I bet I've left the pipe off.

Tig.  You could well be right. I depressed the valve to release the pressure.  Maybe it just needs a poke to reseat it.

Right chaps, tigger gets the trophy 

Checked the line to the purge valve. All good. Checked the Schraeder valve and it was all wet and leaking. Nipped to the garage and got the tyre valve tool. Tightened it up. No more leaks
