2.2dti sump gasket

 after recent work which meant lowering sump I never renewed the sump gasket though did have one. the job seemed too daunting as I could not just slide it in as balance pump stops that idea. I suppose I should lower the chassis. Or will sealant be ok & if so which ?.  :y
