Hi all,

The jumping rev counter saga has moved onto no movement on the rev counter for the first 5 minutes of the engine being on.

Here are the facts

- Rev counter was erratic (1-2 months now) and would cause the auto gearbox to go into 3rd gear limp mode
- Changed the crankshaft sensor but still the same
- The cable coming out of the wiring loom looks fine i.e no cuts or melting or anything like that, inside the bigger loom cannot say as it is hidden.
- The rev counter can be totally fine at times and not work at all at others
- Today it would not move for 5 minutes of the engine on, then was erratic and then fine
- There are no codes with the paperclip test

What else can I try please anyone? Could the rev counter wiring/motor etc behind the dash be the cause? Would an error here cause the gearbox to go into limp mode/have the symptoms described above?

If it could be the rev counter in the dash then how do I remove it to look at it please?

Thanks all.

Alex
