I haven't seen any US opinion polls on the subject but suspect that Trump will win. People are fed up of traditional politics all around the world.

Figuring out what people want to hear, and telling them it over and over again is the traditional way to get elected!

As the world is in such a parlous state (I can't think of many countries that are 'doing well'), any anti-everything politician is going to do well. Add this to the fact that, due to social media, most elections are no-holds-barred slanging matches, with every tiny, personal detail of a politician's past life there for all to see, and we have a recipe for the loudest, brashest, most threatening type of leader to be elected.
That is just the 'free world'. In Russia, China, Africa etc., the person with the most guns gets in.
It doesn't bode well......

I have a feeling that Trump will nick it. A lot of Democrat voters dislike Hilary ( and rightly so) and will stay at home.

Probably. Two things which male it possibly less scary are - The U.S. version of the Civil service will keep him on a short leash, and only tell him things on a need to know basis.
There were similar fears about Reagan when he stood for election, and he actually turned out to be a surprisingly good president.
The problem with Hilary is that she is the perfect example of what voters all over the world are sick and tired off.
She is a professional liar, who thinks that if she tells people what she thinks they want to hear, they will be stupid enough to believe her.
She is way to the left of most U.S. voters and they know it, so don't believe her lies.
She has a sense of entitlement, is arrogant and is a prize bitch trying hard to act as if she isn't.
She is a sleazy crook, who thinks she is above the law, due to the sense of entitlement.
The political elite the world over are being given bloody noses by voters, and she is overdue one.
If the Republicans had put forward a more credible candidate, she would be in for the worst losses in modern U.S. political history.
Trumps persona is the only reason she is still in with a chance.
