Does anyone know if unplugging a wire to the airbags will throw up an airbag warning light(which then can't be deactivated without tech2)? Or pulling a fuse?
It's certainly not in the same level of usability as a simple switch like on most/all modern cars, but if the OP needs it as a feature it must surely be doable?
I know it's a 'you must tell your insurance company' thing etc, but that red tape issue aside for now, as far as I can see that warning light is the only real problem I can think of here - if the airbag is temporarily disconnected will the light come on 'for good'. Because a very simple switch, perhaps hidden behind the dash/vent trim panel when you open the front passenger door would be a good place. The trim pings off very easily, but you could hardly deactivate the airbag accidentally, you'd need to open the door first.
Just theorising at this point...
