hi all
          Both fronts & rear n/s windows all work fine  . .

But rear o/s  behaves as follows  . .         It will open from either the  drivers switch bank or it's own rear one , stops where ever you want it to . .all good so far 

but it will not close from either switch until you turn the ignition off, remove key & then re insert the key & switch ignition on.  Once closed window will open  again , but will not close until the switch off/pull key out etc is carried out

Any ideas where to start looking?  TIA   Al

It all starts with the drivers door switch, so begin there

You can readily swap the rear door switches to rule them out too, but rear switches are powered from the drivers door regardless...

Are you sure its just that one, as the schems show both sides take same feeds.

The drivers doorswitch may affect the consumer relay

Asume you mean the actual window switches ?  I have a spare drivers switch bank & a couple of rears as well. Will have a swop about tomorrow if those are what you mean.

Yes Jamie,   only that one  . . all others open & close repeatedly with no problem

Is there a window "Reset" proceedure that can be done ?

Exactly, but swap the existing rears side to side and see if the fault moves before trying a n other switch... if no change then try the drivers switch and if still no change, it will be out with the multimeter

Also pull F1 and F35 for an hour or so, then replace. Then try again.

Yes Nick . . . . same here really  . . .not gonna be a real  problem as will  very rarely use it

Just wondering what the cause is  . . . & if an easy fix I will . . .if not I won't

but will start with suggestions given so far

I suspect the switches are my problem, as the driver's window(the only one that matters) sometimes needs a long press to go down.
I'm ignoring that too, until it becomes a consistent fault or somebody posts a replacement switch panel through the letter box

Ok  update . First swopped over both rear switches.. . same outcome o/s rear window will not close until ignition turned off /key removed/key returned & ignition turned back on.

Also changed drivers door switch bank for another . .. same result .

Put all original switches back in . . .still the same result.

BUT . . .  noticed that the o/s rear puddle light was not lighting when door was opened

So removed pin switch & spryed inside with switch cleaner  . . puddle light now comes on every time  . . .&   rear window is now operating as it should . . all be it a bit slow as it has probably not been used for quite some time .

Also  . . although the central locking worked from the fob when I got this car recently  . . . the dead locking did not. . .  now it works

Was the sticking puddle light pin the problem with the window & the dead locking, or have I just moved or touched something that has made these issues work again? 
It seems fixed so thanks guys for your input

I will however start another thread on the subject of the central locking not re-setting when you put key in turn to position II & push lock . .  .as this another fault I need to look at
