misfire 2003 2.2
« on: 08 November 2016, 22:10:55 »

started car today to find it lumpy on tickover.
a slight increase in revs and this went away but dropping back to tickover it was lumpy again.
Orange engine shape warning light on constant, not flickering
Drove it a quarter of a mile and it went well enough but back to lumpt on tickover.
Its been running fine so any ideas where I should look first please chaps?

Taxi Al, if you happen to read this I have sent you a text.

 :) :)

0303 is cylinder 3 misfire
1700 is gearbox service

New, genuine, bought in person camshaft sensor and camcover gasket fitted along with service and breather clean all done in June/July...

Does it start/drive ok?

Yes it starts, just tried it again and its definitely misfiring on tickover, a slight increase to 11/1200 rpm it seems to improve but there is still a slight misfire.
If I leave it on tickover without touching the throttle it will intermittently run smooth and misfire.

Do you remember when camshaft sensor was done there was a cough or two and it turned out to be a little pipe needed pushing back in place?
It could'nt be that I suppose ?
(If it is I cant remember which pipe it was though)

The orange engine block light stays on too.

Possible  ;) was one of the two pipes connected to the throttle body... Starter for ten would be the throttle end of the larger pipe from the front end of the camcover if that makes sense...

Well i've checked those but that does'nt seem to be the problem.

started it again to see if any difference, but no, there was however a very loud ticking for a couple of seconds immediately on starting, which then disappeared.
