Medals
« on: 27 November 2016, 15:53:41 »

Just been reading an article about people wearing medals they have no entitlement to, why do such a ridiculous thing surely even the most stupid individual knows they cannot keep up this pretence for long. I have 3 which I have earned over the years , these idiots really annoy me , rant over.

A colleague has now shown me an article about this individual, who claimed to have served in the SAS & how he now had developed cancer etc. Now starting a jail sentence very  disturbing to think people believed his fantasies.

People believe what they want to.

And unentitled people wearing medals devalues them no less than being issued one simply because you did a tour on Ascension.

If people feel the need to pretend that they're summat that they're not, then that is as much a reflection on society as a whole as the individuals themselves.

I've known a few "Walter Mitty" type people in my life.

As a teenager there was a guy who used to pretend he was a copper. He really used to walk along the street with his hands behind his back, not quite saying 'ello 'ello 'ello, but almost.

When I worked in the NHS many years ago there was a hospital porter who would find and wear a white coat and walk along the wards and even talk to patients.

Yes, they walk among us. Creepilly so

Wearing medals ? Deffo not right, but at least fairly harmless, just delusional

It's hard typing when you're round the back of a washing machine. ;)
