peugeot diesel fuel filter leak
« on: 18 December 2016, 18:02:49 »

Calling henryd!!

peugeot 2.0Hdi

Just noticed smell of diesel, had a look under the bonnet and the fuel filter assembly is leaking- small drops not a torrent thank goodness.

Dried up the outside of the bottom of the filter bowl and it appears to be coming from the bleed valve drain. Took that out and reinserted and it improved, probably because the pressure had subsided. Went for a run and it is just the same as before.

Anyway the question is - are these known to develop cracks in the actual body? Or some other problem. There seems to be an awful lot of new aftermarket ones for sale! It is like this one -

Normall the problem is where it's mounted vibration over time fatigues the plastic and makes it brittle

Yep, sorted thanks.  :y

It was a tiny crack where the drain housing meets the filter body underneath.

Bought and fitted new replacement part.
