This car is losing coolant, no other symptons. I suspect heater bypass valve, I understand heater setting is important, should I set it hot or cold to reveal it?

HBV and leaks are particular to that occasion .... they might leak cold or hot or with A/C on or not  But I'd expect to be able to see coolant around the HBV if it is where your leak is

Thanks gents, good advice. This morning drove 20 miles to Bath and Back, no coolant loss. With car over pit, engine running and hot, set heat to HI, no coolant loss. Set heat to LO, had cup of coffee, found puddle under car and steady drip. Good news, I have found the leak.

Sadly no. Haven't got a spare, local dealer no longer stocks. Get one tomorrow either in Bristol or Grove so job for the weekend.

The price from dealer is now around £15, give or take the VAT element.  I try to keep a spare here, as with 2 Omegas, always handy to have.

I know Nick W will disagree, but when they fail, sometimes its inconvenient to be without a car until a day I can guarantee being at home all day - my dealer only delivers if I can be in all day...

I presume not, bought from Drive Vauxhall Avon Street Bristol, TC suppliers, part no. V0095517483  BYPASS VALVE, unit price £14.95 TC price £13.46, plus VAT.

I didn't know TC dealers deliver. Is there a minimum order charge, or maximum distance?

Just asking, as I thought they were nearer £30 from the dealers ....... it's been a while since I last bought one & as I no longer have an Omega I doubt I'll buy another. My comment was re the fact a HBV isn't the most accessible of parts to fit & I rate OE vs pattern on a scale of how much of a ball ache that part is to fit
