P/s front window not working
« on: 27 January 2017, 18:09:24 »

02 fl omega.

P/s front window will not work from either switch, am I correct in thinking that this is due to faulty window motor, and if so ,is it a big/hard job to replace the motor?

Thanks for any help.

BlueRed 12v when close button is pressed
BrownBlack  12v

So I suspected a brocken brown(earth) wire, but haveing conected a temp earth wire, still no joy.

Which car is it?
2.6 V6 02 plate.

I'm getting 12v on both GrayGreen & BlueRed wires if eather drivers switch or pass switch are pressed and as no sound comes from motor at all, I'm pritty sure the motor is caput.

Having looked at how the motor is fitted, it does not look like a simple job to replace it. Can anyone give advice on the best way to go about changing the motor?

Motor is riveted in.

Does pressing the button on either the drivers door or the passenger door prouce the same results?

Passenger door switches earth through the motor... pin 5 on the switch goes from the led to the ground wire on the motor, pin 4... this then runs to the door connection at pin 1 and on to the grounding point on the A pillar behind the kick panel.

Pin 1 on the door plugs being the bottom row left hand female terminal and the bottom row right hand pin :y
Pin 2 being the primary power feed and next to Pin 1...

Unplug the door and check between 1 and 2 for a circuit when switch button is operated...

The white wire to the switch is the switch power... the GyYe is the led light, and the other two are the up and down triggers...

Careful use of 12v and some wire and you should be able to test the switch and motor separately in situ. :y

Ok will try this tomorrow.

But as I said above, I have power at the motor on the Red wire and on either the GrayGreen or  BlueRed depending on which way the switch is moved.

All of which run to ground through the motor ;) if the ground circuit doesn't reach the door plug, then it won't work...

Right see what you mean, but I did splice into the brown wire at the motor and run a new wire to earth, with no effect.

Also have led light at switch, which makes me believe that earth is ok.

The motor can also be separated from the mechanism, two torx screws... might free off if it's simply seized  :-\

Access isn't great though.

If I am understanding you correctly, then earth is fine.  I have just put meter on motor plug, with meter common on brown wire and meter red wire on other pins one at a time. get circuit on all 4 wires.

deffinatly think it is the motor, will have a look at removeing it tomorrow and see if I can free it off.

Thanks for your advice.

Swopping the door might be simplest solution if you can locate a similar spare. What colour is it?
