How much?
« on: 01 August 2008, 14:23:14 »

2003, 53 plate, 3.2 Ex plod MANUAL Estate with Facelift CDX Alloys

140k, Full MOT.

Typical ex plodder, with small bumper scuffs etc but drives fine.

Interested but, where should I draw the line financially?

??

Depends on your level of 1. addiction and 2. other financial commitments.

Does sound very nice though. Is that the one you were considering a wee while ago James? With a few issues?

Ignore the fact its a 2003, that stands for nothing, actually makes it worse than a 2000 with the same wheels, condition.

Its got too many miles, basic spec. Get a retail one!

Fact is, I fancy an ex plod that is cheap and I can hammer it - and - what are the chances of finding a manual retail 3.2 Estate?  ::)

You wont.  Only auto available to the non-plod market....

It'll have to be ex plod then - 'cos if I get another V6, it needs to be a 3.2, and a manual - it's the law :D

I would advise most people against buying one of these, but, with your know-how, you could make it very tidy and mechanically sound. Enjoy it James :y

Still need to negotiate a price, and for an ex plod I expect a real bargain :y

I think £900 is too high.  Esp for ex-plod.  I guess its what its worth to you.

Autos only in retail channel - alledgedly there we issues with 3.2 manuals chewing flywheels.  It would appear even plod started going to autos as time went on, but then they don't do so many pursuits as time goes on, as the bean counters (and the press) don't like them.

I would go to an auction, but I can't find too many that have 3.2 Omega Estate's in :(

My own opinion is that at that kind of level and below, you need to factor in the state of its tyres, exhaust, cambelt etc etc - if new that is worth far more than the odd hundred quid on the purchase price.   Likewise if it doesn't you can easily rack up a 500++ quid bill on top of the purchase price.
