I think you have the pick there! The 2.0's came in several variants of approximately 110, 140 and 165bhp (I think ford tweaked these up through the life of the engine) and then a 175 and a 200 bhp 2.2 diesel lump.

Then you have a bewildering array of trim levels sitting over that. From memory I think Zetec is pretty good.

I'm sure someone will be along shortly to tell you that all the injectors will fail, the clutch will explode and the engine will drop out the bottom of the car. It wouldn't be OOF otherwise  ;)

How much did you decide it was worth in the end just out of interest?  :)

However I would never of bought that Mondeo....it doesn't have LED DRL's  ::) ;D

Out of interest, do all the buttons work on the button cluster on the RHS of the steering wheel?

On mine the down button works when it wants to and ive driven another Mondeo where none of the buttons worked....

The buttons aren't necessarily connected to anything...

And worth every penny, given the low mileage and history. Yes there are some starting at £3200 online so you could argue £400 discount isn't that much, but, they are saloons, and prepared to bet they are dogs. They have twice the miles, a world apart from a one family owner whom you know is utterly trustworthy, and a genuine reason for parting with it.

160 mile round trip today, all A roads. 54mpg and a total joy to drive.

It will save me £100 a month on fuel on my commute alone, which will pay for the car in 2 years.

Yes every button and menu works.

Only complaint is poor speaker quality in the doors, this will have to be addressed, as with the mileages I will be doing, decent tunes are a must :y

There's always a genuine reason for parting with it. 99 times out of 100 with affordable second hand cars that genuine reason is because it needs a costly repair  :D So yeah, if you can find a car that is being got rid of due to other circumstances you're well on the way to a good buy!

I think  £2850 for a '10 plate' with only 60,000 miles beneath it's wheels  James has done extremely well. :y

As for the 'lorry fuel' part of the equation, we will have to differ. ;)

70 MPH at only 1100 RPM is incredibly leggy gearing even for a low revolution derv lump.
