Fight!
Clearly applies to both left and right hand drive cars...

The adjusting lever doesn't turn a RWD lamp into a LHD or vice versa; it just dips a large proportion of the light out of the sightline of oncoming traffic. Guess who has been belting along French country roads in the dark, wondering just why the lights are suddenly so crap, for the last week? 8)

The differences will be in both the reflector and lens, although I expect they will be subtle.

Personally, I would have to be desperate to butcher a new lamp just for a better lens, when 10minutes work makes a massive improvement to even the worst one.

Of course you can.
They'll look bright and shiny, and will work as well as new ones.
But they'll be LHD new ones, so might not be what you want.

They're adjustable for other traffic...
Cant speak for Depo or other pattern, but genuine are **NOT** adjustable between LHD and RHD, and an incorrect one should fail an MOT.

Really cant see pattern being any different, hence the LHD warning.
Pesh... Page 121 of the owners manual  ::)
Nope, that's 'dangle berries'.

What the lever does is convert from sided to a neutral setting with no side kick-up. The Neutral setting should fail a UK MOT on beam pattern.

That's why they do LHD and RHD headlights - if they could get away with it otherwise, they would ;)

So this is getting confusing.

Is it cos the kick patter will be the opposite side that it should be?

Yup.  The "abroad" setting on the lever just masks out the kick via a shutter in the unit.

Fundamentally yes... lights dip away from the steering wheel side, ie into the nearside kerb :y

No reason why new lenses from those brand new, shiny lhd lamps cannot be fitted to your units though... still works out a quarter the price of GM ones ;)

And a CD would be halogen, not HID.
