Underbody protection
« on: 24 April 2017, 09:49:12 »

Will be tackling a few rust spots under the car with a wire wheel in a drill soon, so anyone recommend a protective coating I can apply by brush. Neighbours would not be too impressed if I dragged compressor out onto the street & car won't fit in the shed

I'd go with base paint and then underbody protection (unterbodenshultz). Both are available in spray cans.

Dinitrol aerosols effective, if you can find them...

not much use with a brush though ::)

this stuff is good and easy to brush on: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B002HMTWYY i would apply a rust converter like vactan first but if you're wire wheeling it then you could probably put the underseal straight on.

Have a serious look under sealed areas. Most Omegas have hidden rust there!

The rust is usually peeking out from under the underseal tempting you to have a poke about thinking it wont be much. but we all know better don't we and it's all rather depressing when you see it in all it's ugliness...

Inner rear arch on the Estate I've just broken up looked ok till I peeled back the underseal and had a little poke, I was surprised when I got to the back seat cloth !
