Sky fibre broadband unlimited
« on: 04 May 2017, 12:57:17 »

I got a rather good deal on this, £11 a month for the 18 month contract  :)
Question: When my router arrives, can I connect it straight up and still get a slow connection or do I have to wait for activation day before plugging it in? Thanks.

Probably have to wait until activation, the speed that you are allowed is not set at the router level.  :y

Yes thanks, Mark. I know I won't get the speed, I was just wondering if I'd get anything at all, so I could connect it and wait for activation to happen. I guess I'll just have to 'fiddle'.

Do you have Sky BB currently?

If not, again it will only work at activation date.

Is it real Fibre or FTTC?

I think Sky only do fibre to the cabinet  :-\

Mark, it's FTTC

Tunnie, I already have Sky bb

Zirk, I have been fiddling with it for over 50 years and I haven't broken it yet.

Suspect it's all on the Sky side then, at your activation date you will be switched to Fibre speed. So when you plug it in, you would get 'normal' speed I would have thought, then on the day they activate it, get full beans speed  :y

That's what I was looking for. Various opinions on the sky forum, so I'll just ignore them.  ;D

So is your current broadband also FTTC or exchange based?
