Local elections
« on: 05 May 2017, 08:08:32 »

Well done the independents, they just gained control of my local council, after so many years of labour mishandling and abuse can we hope to see a better future for our town.

Labour in South Wales is one of those classic "Well we've always voted Labour.... " things......  ::)

Labour have had control of the Welsh Government since it's inception in 1999, most of the MP's in the region are Labour and until today most of the councils are Labour.  In 15 years of working in the Valleys I can't say the place has improved much, so hopefully the Taffies are waking up to how useless Labour are!  :y

My labour MP Nick Smith is right now sihtting himself,he is disliked as a useless waste of space, yes he's bought a house here, but never live's there,he spends most of time in London which is where he come's from.
His time in the valleys is nearly over, roll on the general election!.

Although Lincs county overall has gone to the Conservatives, our area has retained an independent councillor. She was the only one who came round canvassing & I know for a fact that she also attends every parish council meeting in her patch (she was re-elected), that's the way it should be and why she got my vote  :y

We didn't see any of our candidates. I suspect because our patch is a foregone Tory conclusion. The only flyer we received was a lib dem one.

The good thing about today and June's vote is that hopefully it will disabuse Corbyn of the idea that he represents this hitherto un represented majority. I firmly believe that we as a nation do best when we have a Tory government with a strong opposition to properly hold them to account. We haven't had that for some time.

Spot on. Half a chance and someone will go on a rant. Never any mention of a certain Mr Scargill who used the miners to try and further his own aims.  >:(

We might. Time will tell. If we do, there may well not be a UKIP anyway.
It will now only survive if everyone involved in the running of it, resigns and allows Aaron Banks to take the reins. Other than that, its almost certainly doomed.

Ditto, although having only been here ~9 months I'm not really sure who any of the candidates are..

Just had to apply for a postal vote for the general elections though as I'll likely not be in a position to attend a polling booth on account of being in Seattle. Better not forget to post that off before I go!
