  I think that I know the answer but just checking.  are all omega oil pan plugs the same ?? . my thoughts they are

Not in terms of the way the seal.

Later facelift ones use rubber O-ring, which have a very low Nm to tighten. Early versions use the copper washer.

But I think they are the same thread size.

There are variances based on engines and age.  I think most of the post 1998 GM engines use the same though...

Haynes torque settings for torx head sump plugs are 10Nm, surprisingly low, but 45 or 55 for Hex head plugs. I imagine all torx plugs have O-rings and Hex plugs copper washers. Most Omegas I have owned had torx head plugs, but not all. The variety risks overtightening of the torx head plugs, especially by non-Vx dealers. It sounds like OP's car was damaged by a Vx dealer!

I use one of these, Sealey 6.5L Manual Vacuum Oil and Fluid Extractor and on the Desmond I can change the oil filter from above.  So I avoid the sump plug altogether.

Then mine was helicoiled. That finally solved it
