Sky are twits!
« on: 14 May 2017, 18:23:54 »

........And by twits, I'd love to type a workd I really mean!

Ordered Sky Q (2TB box, Mini Box the for Love Room) all set, lovely deal with free installation, 33%off.  Cushty.

Get a txt message from the 'Installation Team' the night before telling me installation time has changed from morning to afternoon........ no good for me.  He calls me saying he lives 100miles away and cannot possibly be there in the morning.  Fine, cancel the installation for that day.

Fast forward a week - I've heard nothing from Sky, and (being a busy boy) i've not had chance to call them either.

Call them up and hear that my install has been CANCELLED.... the deal I struck is no longer valid and thats the end of it, Sir!

Fine, Fork Off..... online check and quite frankly, I like Sky TV (even if thir customer service is ball-bags).

Call again to arrange a new dea, 25% off but £20 installation charge.  Fine, I'll swallow the monthly increase but there is no way I'm paying a penny for installation........ Cue "I'll get my manager to call you right back".

Longest story in the world shorter;

Installation fee has been waived, but they have to wait 72hrs before then can tell me when I can have it installed.

WHAT IN THE NAME OF JESUS HAVE I GOT TO DO????????????????????????????????????????

Sorry to hear of your troubles, sounds like the install chap cancelled the whole order.  :-\

Few years ago Sky junked all contractor installs, it's only done in house now so there are less around covering more miles.

Sounds like it's back on track, but drop me a PM if you have issues again.

Sorry but known / once had Sky since the 1980's with friends recently having them and their attitude to Customer Service has always been diabolical, with you paying through the nose for it.

Would never have them again, nor will my friends now.

I'm in the process of binning SKY ( TV/phone/BB) - again. Don't know why I got suckered in by them again. Must be getting old.

My 39Mb broadband is 20 at best. Had a loooooong conversation with a chap on Saturday morning who told me to change channels, fiddle with some settings (change mode from auto to 54g performance) and put my router high up away from interference. He was also fascinated by 'environmental conditions'
No difference so far, so I'll be having a more deep and meaningful conversation later in the week, when I can afford to wait 20 minutes to be connected and a further 30 to listen to shite. Then I'll be mentioning about not getting what I'm paying for.

Talking about "54g performance" makes me think you're using wireless LAN to connect, in which case, all bets are off and you can hardly blame the broadband provider. Only by connecting with a cable to your router will you see the true performance of the line.

Right. I'll have to find some old thing that needs a network cable.

ahhha, different wifi protocols support different speeds, depending on whats configured / what youre devices are capable of, you could well be hitting the wifi limits, not the connection limits.

You can't base it on 1980's  ::)

Independent reviews, constantly put Sky top in our field.

Yes you can, in the 1980's I was watching all the Sky Channels and they didn't even know about it.  ;D ;D

You could be, and probably are, right, Jimbob. I don't feel so bad about it now I know I'm not being diddled.  ;D
