Anyone stupid enough to believe that shite, shouldn't be allowed outdoors without being accompanied by a responsible adult, and should never be allowed within a mile of a polling station.  ::)

Yes, and thank goodness there are many very clever youngsters out there who are not fooled easily; most are not stupid. They are the ones who will actually cast their vote.  They will remember that Labour were in power up to 2010, and know what happened, with those who have studied politics and history knowing what happened when Labour were in power up to 1979; those who are not sure on those facts no doubt will be suitably informed by parents / grand parents, with even the latter stating now that they voted Labour in the past but will not now reinforcing the message. Youngsters of voting age want a good future and I cannot see many of them having any other but one choice.

June the 8th will of course tell us all what the majority want. ;)

When they were 11 yo's I don't think so...how many 11 yo's do you know that are interested/aware of governments  ;)
But their parents will.   ;)

Pensioners who have retired to Spain and other warmer climes still get it too. Winter Air Conditioning allowance.

I remember reading an article about Peter Stringfellow......now he's not short of a bob or two...

He was given the Winter fuel allowance.....and tried to give it back, saying he didn't need/want it...

He was told you carnt give it back....and it was suggested if he really didn't want it, he should give it to charity..... ::)

Might be a few more joining them if he gets anywhere near elected :-X

I doubt it.  If Jezza gets in and is in charge of the BREXIT negotiations, we'll end up with a situation where EU citizens living in the UK have more rights than indigenous Brits and Brits living in the EU get nothing in return.  ::)

They've already said that they will pay whatever the EU demands!  >:(  Welcome to The Peoples Republic Of Jezza's Bankrupt Britain!  :y

Well there's that... point being that at least he tried, and a charity might use it better than the Treasury  ::)

You underestimate what children of that age take in, and what they over hear from their parents.  I remember my parents comments about MacMillian and then especially Harrold Wilson. I grant you I come from a very politically and historically aware family, but children in this age are bombarded by the media and Facebook. The children of 7 years ago (only) will remember the banking crisis and all the negativity concerning Blair, the Iraq war and the hopelessness of Gordon Brown. At school 11 year olds would have started to hear certain teachers sound off about politics; even in my day I had a real Socialist teacher banging the drum, and another who was a true traditional Liberal.  The things they said certainly stuck in my mind.

A lot of children now are very aware of what is happening in the World far more than we were as everything is now on a highly "international" stage. From 11 on, and I was originally referring more about children who would have been 13/14 in 2010, political awareness of those who will vote this time round is much higher than in the 1960s. The PC, iPad and smart phone is making sure of that. ;)

The only problem is that some youngsters at least will not be bothered to cast their valuable vote. Sad, very sad :P

In my experience, young people tend to be left wing. Its easy to be, when you have no responsibilities, probably don't pay taxes and don't understand how the world really works.
I don't mind young people being left wing. It shows they care about the world they live in. Its just a shame we don't ban them from voting until they are at least 25, when the things they want money thrown at will be taken from their salaries to pay for them, which then starts to bring some perspective into the situation.
Grown adults having a left wing mindset though, is a complete mystery to me I'm afraid.
Churchill said words to the effect - "He who has not been a Socialist before he is 40 has no heart. He who is still a Socialist after he is 40 has no head. As always, he summed things up perfectly.

That is very true, and especially when your parents are Socialists, if not communists (mainly, most of the time) as in my time with them being of the war generation and looking for a new future for the working class.

Today, still, it is natural for children to lean towards politics that promise help for the weak, the sick, the unfortunate, rather than the politics of tradition, a strong military, and all that the right wing stand for. Like me though they mostly grow up and realise life is not fair, it is cruel, and the realities are we cannot afford to pay for full Socialist policies. Labour last time round taught many about that fact with their spending, although ironically they were the most centrist, even right wing Labour government seen to date.  That has stirred the pot and caused massive movements of voting patterns with the adults, so it would not be surprising the young adults due to vote are confused.
