Oil Filter Conversion - Where to get Connector
« on: 04 August 2008, 17:02:47 »

Can anyone tell me where to get the Connector PN 90412159 to convert the oil filter from paper element to cannister. Just had to smash mine off as would not come apart to do a filter change. Can find nobody with part in stock and on back order at vauxhall so who knows when l might see one

I have recently changed to a 'spin-on' filter using the Vx adapter; the dealer I bought from did have to order one (quickly done via the dealer`s computer).....it took only a day or two to arrive and the Vx. dealer`s parts dept. did mention `they use quite a few of them.

I wonder if the dealer you contacted was (perhaps) just being 'unhelpful', in which case, a call to another Vx dealer might yield a more satisfactory answer.

Does anyone know what the size is of the internal location in the Connector. I presume it is a hexagon key.

The problem l encountered today was because the internal screw came undone so the paper filter housing just spun round. Took ages drilling holes all round before l could break it open to get it off. Maybe they are all as loose.

Hi Ray
I have 2 complete paper element type filter cases in good condition.
You can have one for the price of a pint.

I am in Fair Oak, they are reasonably clean and off the engines. One has only done about 12 months on re-con engine.

Would get you back on the road until you can get the conversion bit.

Regards

Mike

Thanks. That seems a good solution at this point in time.

Will then make sure l have sourced a connector for next filter change.

How will l collect

Hi Ray
Where abouts are you, I am free this evening, and will be home tomorrow morning till about 9am, then in Bishopstoke till about 4pm digging holes.

Mike

PS must add I don't have the paper element that goes inside, just the complete metal cases.
