AA parts and labour policy !!!
« on: 04 August 2008, 07:37:12 »

Hello

Just wanted to make sure you all know about the AA's breakdown parts and labour policy following the recent head gasket failure on my 2.0 CD auto facelift.

As an AA member, for an extra 7.99 a month I had taken out this parts and labour policy and thank god I did cos 3 weeks after it started the HG went !!!

The AA came out, diagnosed the problem (something to do with an expansion tank test, where he sampled the colour of the water there?) and then after arranging me a hire car, relayed my Omega to the garage of my choice over in Melton Mowbray.

Once the HG was officially confirmed as the problem, the AA immediately then authorised the claim (to their maximum of 475) and the work went ahead.

Total bill was 630 odd, but with my Dads staff discount (93 quid) I only had to pay 50 odd quid, which I was happy to do as they replaced the cambelt whilst they were in there !!!

I then paid the bill and within 4 days we had the reimbursment cheque come through from the AA !!!

Totally impressed with the service, and thank god I had it otherwise I would have took the full force of that bill !

For info, you can claim up to 5 times a year, their max payout is 500, of which you have the always pay the first 25 quid, meaning in effect they will pay a max 475 for each claim.

You have to be a breakdown service customer to be entitled to add the extra policy.

I do not work for the AA or have anything to do with them apart from being a customer but I really would highly recommend that everyone thinks about taking this parts and labour policy out to save them the expense that it saved me..........!!!!!

Worth its weight in gold to be honest.

Both Mrs TheBoy and I have joint membership for relay (cheapest way to cover the 3 cars we have), but not sure I need £90 odd a year - I'm sure I have plenty of friends, OOF or otherwise, to help with those repairs that are beyond me :y :y

But it looks like a good deal for those that need a quick fix - I'm lucky enough to have 3 cars on the drive, all 3 have had their heads off in the last 18 months!!

Exactly, knowing them all very well, there is not one I would trust to do any work!

We used the Co-op garage. Have done for years and have always been totally happy with the work and have no problems with them.

Just posted the thread to let others (who like me aren't mechanically minded !!) know that the AA offer that policy and that it works extremely well.

when we bought the CDX that was trailored back by the AA  ::)

Now i had forgotten about my warranty, when the car was dropped off at my friends garage he was given a contact number and reference details on how to make a claim on my behalf.......

They stumped up £500 towards the labour of replacing the engine hence the reason i could afford the stereo  :y
