intake manifold

I posted a few weeks ago that I suspected a garage that was to remove & clean the intake manifold had not done it. well today I let a local garage take a look & provided new gaskets. I was right the manifold had not been off. the swirl flaps apparently were not operating right. I asked him to take photos which I now have. I did let the original garage know of my suspicions a couple of times with no response i told them yesterday it was booked in today for a check, I did then get a message telling me to take it back & all would be rectified with no charge to me. regards fault codes just the one p0400 insufficient air flow.

P0400 is EGR, and very common on DTi's.

It DOES NOT mean the EGR is shot, yet many believe that is the case "Its what the computer says".  The engine management cannot directly tell what the EGR on the Omega DTi is doing, as there is no feedback control on it.  So it tries to calculate what the EGR is doing, based on other factors like RPM, MAF, load, etc.  And it flags up a P0400 if they don't all match what it believes it should be seeing.

The actual DTi EGR is pretty reliable, unlike the vac pipes that feed it ;D
