Dodgy Volkswagen
« on: 08 August 2008, 23:27:29 »

Hello again everyone.  My daughter's Volkswagen Polo has started to misfire.  I had the back box replaced because it was blowing.  That didn't stop the misfire but I noticed the middle section of the exhaust is also blowing.

Do you think the exhaust problem could cause a misfire?

Thanks for any advice!

Sorry whats a dis pack?

Dis pack is a ht device that fires the plugs.........and has plug leads.......to the spark plugs..

Coil pack sits on the plugs and doesnt have plug leads.......

Vx's have these ........as said dunno about Volkswagons?  :-/

I beg to differ, a faulty centre exhaust can cause rough running that may feel like a missfire, I experienced this some time ago on a Matra Ranho. As soon as I replaced a length of centre pip it was fine again.

Nice to hear from you again Kate :y

Yes its old - a 1996 Polo 1.4 8 valve.

Would it have a catalytic converter that could affect it?
