Hi everyone.  In the last couple of weeks in my area of the north east and Teeside I have seen two gay male couples holding hands while walking down the street.  I used to think that couples like this would get beat up in my area.

What do you think about this in your area?  Would it be accepted?  I just thought it would be interesting to find out the views of oofers across Britain. :y

Sorry but too start ive highlighted your spelling mistake....its spelt homosexual male.

Homosexuals have taken the real meaning away from gay and i find that offence...as do i when they say ""were normal...what we do is normal"" well news flash if it was bloody normal NONE of us would be here evolution in its wisdom created a male with a thingy and a female with a girl thingy for a very good reason.!

Ok sorry for the rant....and in answer too your question i cant recall seeing two homosexual males holding hands, doubt they would get a second look if they did.

Ok rant time again. ;D

Homosexuals in this country i hold in utter contempt due too the way they feel they need too constantly force the fact there homosexual down your throat...proud too be gay day....gay dads r us....camp mincers throwing a tissy if there not pointed at and commented on because there gay....Im heterosexual i dont feel the need too keep banging on about it,dont feel the need too have marches....see what im getting at.

Now before you start thinking im some bigot let me explain that the Philippines has plenty of homosexual and lesbians apart from the lady boys (ive two sister in laws who are lesbians) and there great, always go too the beauty parlour with the wife too get my hair cut and its always a homosexual who does it....totally camp and bent as a nine bob note and funny with it.

The huge difference is they simply get on with there lives....yes there raving queens, but they dont insist on having marches celebrating the fact, they just get on with life as the rest of us do and that's the difference...hence why there treated just the same.

Just remember folks GOD MADE ADAM AND EVE....NOT ADAM AND STEVE

To a certain extent I am with Stuart on this one ...... in that I am not bothered if two people are in a homosexual relationship, as long as they don't push it in my face.

I have known a few male couples and on the whole they have been fairly "normal" ( as in they get on with their lives just like any other couple and keep their sexuality to themselves). However, the lesbian couples I know are far more "aggressive" about being "gay" and proud of it ....I DON'T WANT TO KNOW !!!!!

Likewise, I don't want to know what Victoria Beckham gets up to in bed, or about the "celebrity" sex lives spread over many a sunday newspaper.

Incidentally --- holding hands is OK --- but I don't like seeing ANY couple, homo or hetrosexual, trying to eat each others tonsils in public ..... time and place and all that !

I note that you call yourself "Stuart" but are of the female gender :o :o :o :o; but that's cool! :y :y  ;D ;D ;D

However you protest too loudly so me thinks that perhaps you are confused really ;D :D ;)...NO problem to me though and why should it be in 2008!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D  I have known some men that put up a hell of a protest about "Gays", but actually turn out to be batting for the other side; just scared of "coming out"; that's the sad bit really.  I have found real men who are confident of their sexuality have no problem whatsoever with other peoples "ways"! ;)

By the way are you SURE that Adam & Eve ACTUALLY existed?? :-/ :-/ :-/ :-/ :-/    I believe in and love God, but you can take the Old Testament too literally. ;)

Hiya Kate, here in this part of Wales; despite many parodies on Tv. to the contrary, the ability to be an 'individual' (despite race, crede or sexual-orientation) remains prized.
We ALL might do well to simply follow the doctrine: 'Live and let live' and not feel threatened and diminished by displays of such 'human' expressions of individuality....`difference makes for a diverse and interesting (and happier) world; generally, we are in Britain very proud of our long history of freedom and social-tolerance after all. ;)

As for mention of  biblical views on this: if my reading of them is correct, truly "Christian" religious views actively encourage understanding, acceptance and tolerance.

I don't mind if they hold hands & what other people get up to is their concern, but i wouldn't like to see them kissing. Sorry that just turns my stomach.

I have several gay friends at work, really, they're great people, I must be honest they are compassionate and really considerate, one has a partner and the other hasn't.  Each to their own, they respect me for being straight, need I say more!

If I bumped into Loo Knee in Stoke, we'd probably hold hands... after all I've just purchased a lovely pink tee-shirt just like Daz's...

Oh Lizzy i just knew someone would make the comment (be it tongue in cheek or other) about ""he protests too much so maybe ect ect ect""

If i condemned pedophiles would the same conclusion be made...if i condemned wife beaters would the same conclusion be made...if i condemned ford driver ok ok im sure you see where im going with this. ;)

I doubt theres many who are more comfortable about there sexuality than myself....im more than happy to compliment a guy on his looks or comment about his physical attributes,i dont need too act like a knuckle dragger in order to prove my masculinity....mind you in the wife's absence any man woman or vegetable with a pulse will do. ;D

Basically homosexuals are not normal people...if they keep themselves too themselves then fine i dont have any issues with them, but when they start wanting too adopt kids in same sex relationships and get married that makes my blood boil and i couldn't care less if its not PC...its because of the comfy wearing bleeding heart liberals that homosexuality isnt still ILLEGAL....the law was only changed in the 70"s was it.???

Oh and Adam and Eve....well if there wasnt how do you explain women being inferior too men. ;D

You know God made a perfect male...felt sorry for him so made him a thing too play with...having too use adams rib blah blah blah.

No, because the behaviour of all of the above affects other innocent parties. What consenting adults get up to themselves is up to them if it doesn't harm others IMHO.

Depends on your point of view, though, surely?

I must admit I'm uneasy with this because it affects an innocent party. I keep thinking back to my school days and what a kid would have suffered had they had a gay couple as their guardians.

Kevin what difference does it make regards the protest question if the actions effect others...what i was getting at was just because someone has strong views theres always someone who pops up with ""if you protest this much maybe your ....."".
Maybe not possible to explain what i mean here... ;D

Regards Homosexuals being normal....well sticking your manhood into another man isnt normal in my eyes... ;D

For me, each to their own, just don't force feed me an opinion which goes against the natural progression of life.

Agree with emancipation, equal opportunities, freedom of choice, etc etc etc, just feel that some things are personal and should remain that way.

If you want to hold hands in public with your personal choice of significant other, fair enough.  Just disagree with the assorted and sometimes, overpowering, effect of the whole 'gay pride' thing.

Take, for instance, the Black Police Officers Association or Gay* Police Officers Association.  How much of an outcry would there be if there was a NON Black or STRAIGHT Police Officers Association and if you were otherwise minded, not allowed to join?

The world has gone loopy in its attempt to please all the people all the time and to me, its backfired....

*edit -- should read the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual or Transgendered Police Officers Association....    :P
