I would have bought another one, but the bidding went too high and the seller wasn't very forthcoming with information.

Problem is though, prime time when Merc build was appalling. The coil packs/plug things on those, are they not like £1k or something? Remember Clarkson bought on cheap on that vs BMW 8 series.

Its also in the era (ie, post early 90s) when MB were churning out utter shite due to a lack of skilled designers, which is why - and it pains me to say it - post mid 90s beemers are streets ahead of MB in every single regard.

I don't care.I want one.  :P ;D They were circa £75k when new. One can be picked up now for between £2 - £3k.
If it turns out to be a money pit, its a pita, but not the end of the world.
The biggest worry with them is the ABC suspension. Theoretically its very expensive when it goes wrong, and it often does.
However, just like the Omega, there is plenty of useful info online for avoiding great expense and doing things properly for a lot less money.

I'd have one too,before any big Beemer and I've owned both in the past (not one of them though :'()
