Built a few pc's over the years Gigabyte mainly[Many extras on them]
Asrock cheapo bought one to use as budget pc it was one of a few with agp & pcie Graphic cards slots on it also runs ddr & ddr2 memory well i still use it almost 2 yrs of hard gaming on it was less than £40 even then its been rock solid Via chipset though but checkout there products

What you need firewire for ? thought usb 2.0 was as fast now !

Finally running Asus P5N-E now too I feel its a really good product you must have had some lemons its about 8mths old & not a blipadmitedly uses Nforce chipsets i'm afraid :-/

Its likely I can't use gigabyte due to their inability to follow the ATX spec :( - I have a very specific slot layout I need as per original thread.

Firewire needed.


Sounds like nobody has come across a board matching my requirements  :'(

Wrong slot layout on those Asus, Gigabit, as previously said, don't follow ATX/mATX standards, so cannot be used for this application.

Actually, some of those gigabyte ones do follow ATX standards :o but wrong slot layout.

I am ready for a new board, saw a Gigabyte board with quad lan on the other day, 10 Sata, 12 Usb.  

Just trying to work out which is the best chip set to go for

Looks like finding one with all the needs is a prob the Asrock is great but no firewire  :-[

As is this  no firewire !!

Depends what you wanna do with it overclock etc i never bother anymore & to be honest the latest chipsets are all really pretty good

Plus I wont pay too much for one i reckon £60 is tops for my needs there are some good ones for that price
