I guess it's easy to forget when we are having a bit of banter with those we "know", that there are others who do not yet have the measure of the site or some of it's members. I admit there are one or two members who I find a bit offputting, even though I know that's just the way they are .... so a raw newbie might well run and hide!
Its a problem we have - I get a few msgs from new members wishing to leave as they find OOF a bit cliquey
I'll admit that I do sometimes feel like I'm poking my nose into other peoples business when I leave a post on here. I look at my post count (just been promoted

) and find that I'm thousands behind most of the people on the thread and you find that it's the usual suspects posting on a daily basis. But then that's the idea.
My hangups about joining in the fun are because this is the only forum I've ever posted more than 1 item on and I'm sure I'm not the first nor the last to feel that way. I now find myself checking every day and if there's something posted and I don't like it I'll move off that thread and look at something else. TB's policy of letting it all run and then discussing any contentious issues behind closed forum doors with the admin's make sense. I don't think you should see it as a problem though, you are never going to find a solution that pleases everybody.
You can ban posts about Race, Colour, Creed but then where do you stop.... no posts incase we offend veggies, Arsenal supporter's, people from the North/South...like me here you could go on and on to the point where the only person loging on each day will be TB

I'll shut up now.
