Ar yes. The walk. Anybody been for a stroll lately? Land mines are rare these days, to right, but there is always one who does not have a pooh bag. Or just cant be 'arsed'. Anybody notice the fairly constant smell of Dog piss, esp. on a nice warm sunny day? Lovely. Still, as long as your lawns nice and clean...

....yes, I notice many other things despoiling the world too: beer/beverage cans scattered at the roadside, burger/chip wrappers, the smell of urine/vomit in multi-storey car parks, disgracefully-drunken 'yoofs' ruining many a`town`s summer evenings and general-litter seemingly everywhere: but, as it is with dog-fouling; it is a minority spoiling it for the rest of us. ;)

Your right in what you say Debs of course, but not the point i was making. That being, EVERY dog owner will take their dog for a walk rather than have it urinate in their own garden. Quite happy to inflict it on every passer by rather than have it outside their back door, but yet seemingly the first to complane when they get similar unfair treatment on their own property. Nobody wants crap on their lawn, and nobody wants a public place to be used as a public toilet. In that respect Dog owners are simply not a minority, they are ALL at it re. urinating.
Dont get me wrong, its a fact of life, thats what dogs do. I am not complaining about it in that sense, it does not bother me. I just NOTICE it, if you know what i mean. But having noticed it, i just think, how can you complane about crap on YOUR lawn one minute, and then take a dog out for a walk and let it piss in everybody elses public space the next? Wtf?

Anyway,i would be interested to know how waspy gets on with those water jet things if he gets them?
We may get some for grumpy chops over the road.
Or maybe not, she will probably moan about it making her gravel wet.(the gravel she layed, at great expense, over the grass to stop cats crapping on her lawn, the cats love it, they can bury it )
Cheers

Quite so Debs  :y Who is the dirtiest of all the animals that walk this planet. At least dogs don't dump nuclear waste, oil into the sea & the list is endless.

To join this interesting and at times "very lively" debate late, I would just simply state that we are all orgainic creatures of God and have equal rights to walk this planet.  As the "superior" being we also have a duty to protect all that is on the planet, something which ALL of us fail to do in our lives due to the nature of our world in 2008. ;)

Therefore we should and can do more to greatly improve the situation and it goes way beyond what cats and dogs are allowed to do, although controlling their "waste product" on the streets and in public parks is essential for the sake of human (especially childrens) health, as it was when there was open sewers in our streets! :y :y

I dont mind my dogs taking care of business in my garden. I do have a problem with other owners letting their dogs in my garden. I have never met a dog owner who does not mind their own pet having a whizz on their lawn.

But having noticed it, i just think, how can you complane about crap on YOUR lawn one minute, and then take a dog out for a walk and let it piss in everybody elses public space the next? Wtf?

Crap can be toxic to humans and takes longer to dissipate via the elements. Urine is not toxic and with the first rainfall, it disappears.
Hence, more emphasis regarding removing dog mess, rather than dog pee. Let's all us dog owners follow our dogs with a little basin, so we can catch the pee and dispose of it responsibly.
Bear in mind, there are foxes and badgers and other assosciated animals whose urine is a LOT more pungent than dogs.
Your nasal receptors must be on sensory overload if you can distinguish dog pee from every other scent.

Nobody does want their garden used as a toilet, but when some little ned high on e's and tonic wine or cheap cider takes a piss against your house, fence, car, or in your garden whilst taking a short cut back home. What would you do?

Smashed bottles/broken glass cause a great deal of cost and worry to us dog owners. Do you hear us complaining about that? No would be the answer, it's just what these moronic little troglodytes do when they have drank their booze.  Dogs who take a pee against a lamp post or whizz on a public piece of grass cause absolutley NO harm to anyone, this behaviour is in their DNA and is something they have done, and will continue to do for years to come. Does smashing glass represent a fundamental part of these cretins DNA? Again, NO would be the answer.

Bear in mind they are just animals at the end of the day.
Nothing more.
So are the dogs.

I agree wholly that dog owners MUST pick up after their animals, and it IS the minority who let the side down for the more responsible owner.
The petty and narrow minded comments which are classing all dog owners the same is just infantile.
As I have said in previous posts, all the problems come from lack of knowledge.

Just to put the record straight. When my dog was alive & i took her for a walk it was across open farm land & NOT a park or street, but on the odd occasion when i did take her in a publice place i always carried some bags. So YES I CAN complaine about cats crapping on my lawn.

each to there own and all that, no problem with dogs, love them in fact.  But am i missing something here, the guy is is not happy with animals crapping on his lawn, and some people are suggesting getting a dog will stop this happening...
If you want a lawn like i mine field and covered in dead white patches i would say getting a dog is an excellent idea. Nice one. Well done. :y

I have two large german shepherds whom I let take care of their business in my back garden.

No patches, no discolouration, if we are out a walk, I use crap bags if they feel the need to park their breakfast.

As long as you train your dogs properly and not to let them do whatever they want like wandering the streets in and out of peoples gardens, then you will have no issues whatsoever. Unlike a couple of my neighbours who let their dogs roam the streets and have very little control over them. I have asked them not to let their dogs into my garden because if one should stray into my dogs garden, well, their dog may not return in the same shape. Not because mine are agressive, not by any means, but dogs are terratorial and very protective.

To re-iterate a point I have made many times before, it's not the animal at fault, it's the owner.
Rant over :D

I agree totally.

the unfortunate thing is that 80% of dog owners are not like you.

I personally hate dogs with a vengeance  >:( anything over 18" high scare the cr@p out of me (I got bitten arround the face by an alsation when I was six - not a pleasant experience) and anything below 18" are generally irritating and noisy (I know thats mostly the fault of the owners but like i said, 80%...)

ALL DOGS SMELL BAD dogs make the car, the house and often the owners clothes STINK of dog. This is a bad thing :D

but back to the topic of cats defecating in the lawn :D

buy asda smartprice curry powder and sprinkle it on the flower beds every 2 weeks. (any curry powder will do, asda smartprice is just the chearest!)

you will not get cat trouble then, trust me :)

That's a load of rubbish about dogs smelling bad , my dogs don't  coat never smells and they are very clean animals , if  dogs do smell bad is that the owner don't wash them and yes they will smell and yes your house will smell of animals that's just nature and its not all that bad, and i have been bitten by a German Shepard when i was just 6 yrs old but i got over that and never let affect me, but i can see your point about not liking dogs but there need to put them down like you have.... my rant over >:(

Of course you can. I just think its hypocritical to then take your own pet out and let it toilet everywhere else! Do it in your own garden, then take it for a walk. And youll have piss n poo all over the place in your own garden. Great, everybody happy then?

Hmm-no narrow minded/petty comments in there then? But basically thats the point is it not? The whole thread is all a bit petty. Surely? One is much as bad as another, and nobody is perfect, least of all animals who dont know any differant for what ever reason.
Now, forgetting about your dogs for a minute, do those ultra sonic things work? What do you think about the question he asked?
