Small Favour - Anyone near me?
« on: 16 August 2008, 13:03:01 »

Hi guys,

Anyone near Cardiff or Chelt with any device that can read and reset codes on a 3.0?

I've got a bunch of fault codes, and a flickering EML, I need to investigate. If anyone would lend me a cheapo lead until Monday I'd be eternally grateful :y

(I'll of course pop and collect it!)

;D ;D

Actually, they are.....

13   O2 Sensor 1 Open Circuit
38   O2 Sensor 1 Circuit Voltage Low
31   No Engine RPM Signal (think this is normal with engine off?)
74   Mass Air Flow Sensor Voltage High
132   Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve Feedback Incorrect Signal
145   Immobiliser Wrong Signal (not worried about this one.)

Sounds to me actually like the lambda might be the cause of many evils.

Note the code 19 is no longer there, as it was last time.

I just wonder if these codes are sporadic and irrelivent due to a bad electrical connection somewhere, I suspect a red herring in this mix of codes.

Could do with clearing them with a cheapo and seeing what comes back. Might be old codes - fired up with one of the Lambdas disconnected perhaps?

Looks like the EGR valve could do with a clean perhaps?

The MAF code might be consequential of the other two.

Is it running OK?

Of course, if it does have a failed Lambda sensor, it won't do anything for the fuel economy.

Very true, might be the cause.

which side is lambda 1 anyhow?  ::)

Interestingly, it's getting up to temp nice and quick with new stat, and the cam timing is now spot on, so there's progress :y

If you're monkeying around with cars this weekend please text or PM me.  I could use a quick Tech2 on mine (especially the problematic HID's) before going through the chunnel next weekend. Cheers!  :y

Just consider that the lambda one is on bank 1-3-5 and that is also the bank conencted to the EGR....so do the easy and onbvious one first....clean the EGR valve....ideally with paint stripper!
