VectraC heater prob
« on: 03 December 2006, 12:33:02 »

Thought id ask the question here.....just in case someone knows  :-/

Not my VectraC but im trying to help my neighbour with his VectraC

Heater was working fine until 3 days ago....then zilch....no heat at all.
Its got rotary knobs for the heating setting/fans/vents.
But im thinking as its got a demist windscreen button and the fans go on max (plus i assume it alters the vent settings to the windscreen and puts the heat on max) thats its electronically controlled.  :-/

I did pull the cover off the heater knob and it looks like a pcb i can see.

I'm going to pull all the fuses later to see if anything gets reset (worked for my VectraC when the headlights wouldnt turn off!).....waiting for him to find his car pass first  ::)

He's asked vx stealer who wants over £60 to have a look at it  >:(

But in case pulling the fuses doesnt work any ideas?

Oh should add it has aircon so could be a problem with hbv i guess.......but its only just 3 years old  :-/

Cheers

Check if heating system is diagnosable...  ...if so, DTCs may give a clue...

Just as well you don't consider getting an up to date version then...

Veccy-C has two heating types, ECC and Heating/AC system. Both are dianosable...

...however, only DTCs on Heating/AC system relate to AC related stuff, and heated rear window...

Well i had a play at lunchtime......unplugged all the fuses stuck in the fusebox at the end of the dash.....checked em and plugged em back in.....no heat  :( so if anything did get reset it didnt fix the prob  :(

Next step....i got the heater controls outa the dash......its all electronic....one connecter with fairly chunky wires for the fan speed....then another with about 30 thin wires going to a multiway plug....unplugged it and plugged it back in (hoping it had a bad connection!) still no heat  :(

Next popped the bonnet.....it doesnt seem to have a HBV, well i couldnt find one, just two pipes disapear into the bulkhead and the other ends both seem to connect to points on the engine......with the engine running one was extremely hot, the other was cooler.

Ive got the rest of the week to try to help my neighbour as hes booked it into vx stealer next monday  ::)
Tho think i may be stuffed not being able to read the codes  :-/
