Bit of trivia.

The House of the Rising Sun was a great song by the Animals. It was recorded in one take and was unusual in that it lasted four and a half minutes. Of that time most were about two minutes apparently. I would have thought three.


Anyway when was that time i.e. when was it released? My guess was 1968 . You can listen to it and get the actual year here. I bet BigRon gets it spot on!

Great song,don't recall the year it came out[would've guessed earlier than '68 though]seem to remember it was the cause of a falling out between Eric Burden and Alan Price.

I guessed 65, but knew it was before 68. No-one wore those suits in 68.

House of the Rising Sun may have been their biggest hit, but I liked Inside Looking Out and others better. Big fan

It certainly was a big hit with me and my friends

Note the Beatle style suits that they wore in recognition of the fashion the Fab Four had started which you can see better in this VT version. In fact the whole production copies The Beatles presentation current at that time.  Oh yes, The Beatles had that effect on the music, fashions and culture of us young!  God, I wish I could go back there and marry Paul McCartney; sorry Eric Burden, you were fab, but no where near as fab as Paul!!
