£1,700 would buy a proper car ::)

Still what do you expect if you put a pissy three pot into a two tonne mumsybus and then turbocharge the nads off it so that the performance improves from non existent to mediocre ;D

I always had concerns about an ultra small, heavily turbo engine in big cars.

This though kinda suggests manufacturing issue with block itself or poor coolant maintenance  :-\

I think Ford replaced the header tank as well as doing something with the level sensor.  :-\

Probably letting coolant get far to low, then overheating. Sensor changed to ensure higher coolant level?

ford forums are saying that a level sensor is not fitted as standard

Sounds like Ford still haven't figured out how to make a decent engine - but that's nothing new, just ask all the people with slipped cylinder liners in Focus STs..

The 1l turbo is great in the Fifi and good enough in the Focus, but just too strained in a Mundano.
