In the 9 years I've owned the 3.2, I've never had the EM light on. Took it in with no light on for its MOT today, after giving it an Italian tune-up. It passed with one advisory, EM light on . What did they do? WOT didn't bring it on for me.

I am surprised that no-one has come up with a reason that may have brought the light on during the MOT. I am not a great fan of such coincidences.

3.2 is OBD compliant, so any cheap device ought to do what you want. Easily doable for under £20.

Just off to do that. It can't have idled for long, it only took 20 minutes to do the MOT!

Only needs to miss slightly once... Fans kicking in could cause a stutter as the load increases

Pedal trick doesn't work for some reason. Spanner light remains on. IIRC I have used it in the past, but I may be confusing it with the TD. Paperclip doesn't appear any use as no connectors in 2 & 6 of OBD socket.
